How Double Stop Works — Visual Guide

A four-panel illustrated walkthrough showing how to broadcast your location, get discovered by someone nearby, unlock a post, and make a safe, real-world connection — in any city, at any time of day.

PANEL 01

You Are Already There

The idea behind Double Stop is simple: you are already in the world. Maybe you are sitting alone at a corner table in a café, waiting at a departure gate, browsing shelves in a bookshop, or taking a quiet lunch break in a public park. You have a spare moment and a genuine willingness to talk. That combination — presence plus openness — is all it takes. You do not need a reason to be somewhere special. The "somewhere special" is wherever you already are right now.

PANEL 02

Post Your Signal

Tap "New Post" and fill in a few simple details: a preferred name (any name — it does not need to be your real one), a brief appearance note so someone can find you in person ("blue jacket, glasses, red tote bag"), and a rough sense of how long you have. Place a pin on the map — only your city and country are visible to other users at this stage. Your exact location stays locked until someone actively chooses to unlock your post. The whole thing takes under two minutes, and your post automatically vanishes after one hour without any action from you.

PANEL 03

Someone Nearby Discovers You

Another person in the same area opens Double Stop. They browse the live feed and see your post — your name, your general location, and a hint of what you are up to. If they are curious, they tap to unlock the full details. A short animated logo plays — a small community support gesture — and then your exact location hint and appearance note are revealed to them. From that moment they know how to find you. You remain completely unaware this has happened, which keeps the interaction free of any pressure for both sides.

PANEL 04
D-Stop?

A Friendly "D-Stop" Hello

The person walks over calmly and says: "D-Stop [your name]?" — the shared phrase that both parties know from the app. This one sentence is the entire protocol. It signals that they found you through Double Stop, that they understand the platonic and consensual nature of the app, and that they are ready to accept any answer gracefully. You can say yes and start a conversation. You can smile and say you are busy right now. Either answer is completely fine. No explanation is owed either way. The D-Stop phrase is designed to make both the approach and the refusal feel natural and pressure-free.

The D-Stop Protocol: One Phrase, Full Consent

The phrase "D-Stop [name]?" is the safety backbone of every interaction. It tells both people that a shared, voluntary framework is in place — no ambiguity, no pressure, no obligation. Always meet in busy public spaces. You are always free to say no, change your mind, or leave at any point. No explanation is required. If anything ever makes you uncomfortable, trust your instincts and go.
